Will you be able to throw in any treats for us tonight, like the similar things which happened the other night??!!

Robert, for us it's not a treat but a nightmare, and we always aim to provide a 'clean' output. Hopefully nothing untoward will go wrong tonight (fingers crossed!) Smile

If the only problem we saw was the lack of a countdown (but a nice BBC News caption) then I think you coped with it extremely well! It's only us guys that notice these things!

Cheers, Asa

Prudent (looks word up in dictionary). oh i get you. you answered the question anyway. just one other question who has to sit and type the autocue for continuos news at the BBC. That must be one boring job.

Gordon Brown and prudence are very close.

Asa: Thank you very much for the complement. Much appreciated!

Rob: No-one types scripts on Autocue. The scripts are downloaded automatically from our News Production tool ( ENPS) - A windows based program which journalists, producers & editors create and compile scripts & running orders.

what time does your nightshift start then. do you have to work from 00.00-06.00 or is it different.

N24 Technical Director (me!) nightshifts are 2300 - 0700, but on-air 0100 - 0600

Thanks for giving us the clean version of the BBC News 24 World Headline Bed, we're all desperate for a full clean version of that and the Breakfast headline bed!!

Thing about automation systems is that they are great when they are working properly, but once they decide to do something you don't want it to do, then a fight normally breaks out. And when you are on-air, you have to provide some kind of output whatever is happening.

World Presentation night shifts are 00.30 to 07.00

I'm not wanting to be a party-pooper, but...

I realise that there's a lot of people who love to collect TV Themes etc and do their own remixes, but be careful... the music is Copyright material! Just a friendly warning! Wink

Is capturing a news title, say News 24 (without altering it), then putting in the 'Clip Info' line (c) BBC 2001 still 'illegal'?

I don't know the full ins & outs of the legal stuff so can't really comment, but acknowledging copyrighted material is a must, whatever you do with it
