So what exactly are SKY News planning that is scareing N24? A new set and opening titles - I don't think that'll do the trick!

And regarding the technology being available, surely SKY News knew what was going to become available? They could plan ahead to get a good interactive service ready to air (which very few people are doubting they did) while News 24 establish(ed) themselves as a worthwhile news channel.

Cheers,

No Asa, a whole new business channel, a totally new building basically, they are chaning the lot, a new reporting style, everything is going to be different, and News24 will be seriously worried about that.

And Sky can only develop or get people to develop things for them, if you saw the test plans for Sky News Active they really do look nothing at all like the final version, they had no idea what the software was capable of at the time. and anyway, News24 is already worried about Sky, because they know, and the BBC knows is generally does things better.

Yeh Sky do things so much better that they have decided to dump the way they do things and change the whole lot. Why's that then ? In the face of innovative, evolving competion from the BBC, I'd say. Sounds like running scared to me.

LOL, you are a funny guy, as I have said before, News24 is anything but innovative.
Name one innovation they have come up with!?
A new business programme! Ohh, wow, Sky have had 2 since 1989, and are launching a new channel.
Why on earth would they be scared of the BBC, not only are the ratings far far better, but just look at the sort of coverage the BBC provided today for that hoax bombing outside of the White House, why on earth would they be concerned about the BBC being a threat to them, to be honest they do not even appear in the same class.
As for News24 creating an interactive service, that is not innovation either, as many broadcasters have already done it.
To quote from a trailer used on national tv at the launch of Multichannel in 1993, 'Change is essential', and it is.
Sky obvioulsy know that News24 have a better looking studio and Sky are reacting to this, but they are also improving the currently superior (to the BBC) style of reporting the currently have, if the BBC had their way everything would have stayed the same for ever, notice how it has taken 2 different companies to revolutionise Tv broadcasting in the UK, ITN for pioneering the modern interview, and In-vision news, and Sky for bringing 24 news, the BBC are simply not an innovative company.

BBC News were the worlds first company to broadcast news. How does sky beat this one.

For a company that has been going for nearly 80 years,
the started tv broadcasts, colour tv transmissions, teletext, and first fully digital channel(bbc news 24), first interactive text service...

I think they have inovated quite well, considering we pay for it...

The BBC does a good job considering the licence fee is not anywhere near enough money.

Can i ask where you got the information relating to the sky news overhaul from, and can you tell us anything more about it, like dates when its going to happen etc.
The BBC by the way gets more from our licence fee than small countrys get money wise

So if BBC are planning a new business programme, this means no World Business Report dosen't it?

they may get more money than some countries but they asked for the licence fee to rise by £10 but only got £3.
