Please if anyone from BBC News 24 is reading this, please stop that annoying 'BREAKING NEWS' caption from being typed onto the screen. It was in use again tonight, alternating between 'BREAKING NEWS' and 'BELFAST VIOLENCE' it really irritates and is extremely distracting. I know it's meant to grab my attention, but once it's done that it can stop you know. It just looks tacky.
It is annoying, but then again you don't see Breaking News very often on News24, so they have to make an event out of it
But the fact that it is bright red surely attracts enough attention?
Sky is much better, just one big sound and animation and then it just stays still for the rest of the time.
And even if they do want to alternate it why can't they just fade it in and out.. News24 graphics and astons aren't really suited to animation, they weren't designed to be and it doesn't work.

Can someone please get a screenshot? I've heard so much about this aston and have never seen it!
It really is nothing spectacular.
It is just a normal BBC News aston except the part at the top is red and has text that changes again and again and again.
news24.comments@bbc.co.uk Is I think the address to write to.
If they get enough complaints then they will take it off.
And notice how smug Amroliwala looks whenever a breaking news aston appears on screen in the middle of a report... 'You might see the aston on screen there, it appeared about 30 seconds ago, on the bottom of your screen, and it tells us that....' - yeah great, I know its there, it's bright red and it's flashing.
Sky have been doing breaking news astons during reports for years now, why make such a big deal about it?
If they want to do this type of thing, they need to redevelop the aston, i've never understood why the aston is purple, when the main colours are yellow and china red!
