I've just been watching the joint service again on News 24, and I was surprised to see one of the cameras move in the N24 studio! It was at the 1700 bulletin, and on the studio shot just after the opening titles, a camera very swiftly moved round to face Mike Embley!

BTW, Mike is great on News 24 - he's suited to a continuous news channel.

I must say that that's the first time I've ever seen that happen on News 24, it was quite strange!

It was wasn't it?! BTW, do you think the BBC News ident looks much better on SKY Digital in widescreen than BBC News 24 ident?

I see BBC World aren't doing their own bulletins from TC7 this evening. They are getting Chris Lowe and Anna Jones!

Some bulletins are coming from N6 but some are joint. Basically TC7 isn't available and N6 has to be used for nationals as well.

Yes, throughout the day all BBC World .30 long bulletins were joint, and .10 ones must have been from N6. For some reason, last Saturday they came from TC7 just for the evening bulletins, whether .10 or .30 long.

There are a couple of TD's who make the camera move on the opening shot. It's not normally the camera that's being used.

There are also a couple of TD's who suddenly realise they haven't got a camera on the presenter as they start the programme.

News 24 could have a more interesting opening - that static shot, with a stupid angle and presenters saying 'This is BBC News 24', it just doesn't work.
CNN is the best when it comes to starting their news programmes. The camera running across the CNN logo on the floor, with the presenters annoucing the time.

News24 can't do anything to ambitious. Remember it has far fewer technical staff than either Sky or CNN. It has no camera operators , vision mixers, or lighting people. Overnight it just has two technical staff running the whole channel
