Thankyou Yam. Looks like a power failure, then! I've updated my first post to follow N24's continuing wierdness.

Quite easily. All it needs is for the BBC World Server [not necessarily at TVC] to be loaded with different tapes to the News 24 Server. And, if i'm thinking about this correctly, there is now the technology to run an uplink from a moving broadcast truck, so News24 could be being literally carried over to Westminister.

Talking about wires my local BBC Centre (look east) is all Wi-Fi.

I remember reading somewhere that the wires in the walls of TVC's main doughnut haven't been upgraded since the main building was built. It's no wonder they are having power problems [if they are].

It was. This is why BBC World suffered a blackout at 4:15am, as reported by Yam. All that would have happened is that an ermergency switch would be flicked to send a signal from a different location, and keep some form of recorded news going.
Edit:
Yes, that's how I mean. TVC should be the top priority for the beeb to get upgraded. The newsroom designers did this with the news sets - updating the national, then updating the regional sets.
I think Wi-Fi might not be feasable for a place as large as TVC, however it is definatley something which could be used in parts.

ah so it looks like world wasnt affected by the power cut.

I must be watching from a Different Feed then - As explained above I got an advert for singapore airlines and then the standard Ad Opt-out thingy.
