I still say that News 24 and World should have totally separate studios (as they have), galleries, servers, and power supply/back-ups.

World should also have everything it needs to run News 24 if their facilities go down. This way News 24 wouldn't end up graphics-less like it did for most of Sunday!

They should also sort out the World studio so it doesn't look so different to the News 24 one. More lighting, more red & white, no cream, and put frosted glass behind the presenters.

World is not News 24, and it is not competing with News 24. It is competing with CNN, FOX, etc etc. It's look is determined by this.

We should count ourselves lucky that BBC World is still in existance.

I think you've missed my point.

I'm not saying that N24 and World go separate ways, or even the opposite. I'm just saying that they should co-operate so that in the event that it becomes impossible for World to broadcast it's news, it's news can be provided by N24, and in the event N24 can't broadcast, World can fill in for it.

This can be done at the moment, but it's very limited with them having to drag out the old graphics and there not being any kind of DOG.

World isn't News 24, but they are sister channels and I think their on air look should be quite similar.

Remember News 24 is more important than World in that it serves the people who pay for it - unlike World.

Whilst watching News 24, I noticed that there have been quite a few changes to the astons.

If you look at this aston from in December, the lower half which said "reporting" had a full black background as well as the top half. However, whilst watching yesterday, I noticed that the lower half of the aston has got a much greyer background, similar to that on BBC World. This also applies to the story aston as well.

I didn't miss you're point. I just chose to ignore it.

Firstly, people who watch World do pay for it (at least in part) by buying the products that are advertised on it.

The N9 (World) gallery was battered almost as hard as N8 (N24's) on Sunday. It too had no TOG, little automation, etc etc. Astons were only achieved by Big Ted generating them itself.

Yes, it would be a good idea for N9 to be loaded up with all the trailers etc needed to keep N24 on air uninterupted, but if the power goes on the machines in N9 too, then there's not a lot of point.

N9 could continue on Sunday because it is not in the news centre. But the majority of its servers are. For their servers to be seperate from News 24's is impracticle due to the cost. BBC News doesn't have all that much money for the amount of services it runs.

OK, they pay indirectly, but News 24 has to be the most important service because it's paid for directly by viewers. The BBC's commercial activities should always remain very much secondary to those paid for by the licence fee.

The bottom part in the example is translucent, it's just that sometimes if the bottom part it against a dark background it seems to be solid black. If you look closely, you can just see the picture through the bottom part.

Nothing's changed as far as this graphic is concerned.

No, the new News 24 graphics have always been fully opague since launch, the World graphics have been transparent.

But ever since N8 was knocked off-air in that power fault, when it came back on at 7pm on Sunday, they had the transparent parts like the World graphics have had since launch.

Yes, they have definitely changed. However, the N24 astons weren't quite completely opaque before. The lower part was always slightly transparent, although you had to look carefully to see it.

Here is a cap of the new aston - you can see that it's much more like the one World uses. The black section of the information aston is also now the same transparency as the lower part of this one.

Did I see a London Today presenter doing the half-hour sport headlines? I'm sure I saw her presenting London Today this morning. I'm not sure what she's called, but she had shoulder-length black hair, if that helps! I waited to see the full sport update, Celina Hinchcliffe's on duty now.

The London Today presenter you're thinking of is probably Carrie Frais, but I doubt she was on N24!

And I think you mean Celina Hinchcliffe, not Selina Scott Laughing

Sounds to me like your talking about Nina Hussien (sp?) She is an LDN presenter.
