With this developing story, BBC News 24 is ONCE AGAIN broadcasting the channel on the net.

IMO, they should KEEP DOING THIS! LEAVE ON NEWS 24 ON THE NET!!!

And just to add to this, how the heck did they get guests on at 02.10??? The newsroom must've fed the guests a lot of coffee. Sure it's an advantage to the BBC World viewers in the Americas, but I feel sorry for the guests!

I believe N24 have had at least 1 guest on stand-by waiting in the wings overnight since Sept 11, just in case

Blimey! They're eager!!

BTW, whats the 'drill' for breaking news coverage like the one last night? Do they always call in the head of the presenting team, i.e. Gavin and Nik? What about the woman presenter - who's the top woman presenter on News 24 and World? Do they always have them on standby just in case?

I would imagine the most senior woman - if there is one - at News 24 is Val Sanderson - she apart from Maxine mawhinney is about the only woman there from the start. She is also over 40 - age and experience and all that. She is also screwing none other than John Humphreys that scourge of politicians who is one of the country's most senior broadcasters on arguably the BBCs single most important news programme - Today. On World ummmm....Lyse Doucet?? Anita MacNaught???

i'd really want News24 to have the live webcast for 24hrs a day. I'd suggested to them but they didn't realize it. I think they should compete the webcast against ITN.Sad

Looks like you can get News 24 summaries on NEws 24 website (www.bbc.co.uk/news24) but I've also seen the channel streamed live off the bigger Newsonline site news.bbc.co.uk, usually when theres a big story breaking.

Its not 24 hours mainly because of problems with sports rights from clips shown during sports bulletins - at least that certainly used to be the case.

When I asked recently they did tell me they were working on ways of getting round this.
