This was defently not scheduled. Are you sure it was defently 3.10 and not later. Even if News24 had a total crash the main fallback posiotion is to play out a recording or the last hour. If they were playing Talking Movies something major must have occured.

I'm sure it was 3:10 as thats what time BBC ONE joined 24, although from the timing of the programme it'd seem it started at exactly 3, as at 26/27 mins past it went straight to the weather, 30 to a summary of news, and then Reporters was on.

I thought one possibility could be that they wanted to fit in a special programme so just missed out the news at 3am, so they could bring Talking Movies forward and show Reporters, but surely its a bit drastic to axe the news.

If you ever want to shut people up, just blind them with science - it worked here!! Nice one Noggin! Wink

Well that's because noggin has given a very comprehensive technical answer to the questions.

What I would like to see is BBC Worldwide's UKTV output to be in W/S, that would be great!

Another thing today, this Sunday morning afer the BBC WORLD news, according to the breakfiller schedule, and BBC WORLD text, Click Online was supposed to be on, but we got Panaroma instead!

I noticed that on some BBC Sport coverage, instead of black lines they have that BBC Sport coloured lines thingy, which slightly animates.

Is there no way that instead of having black lines on WNT you could replace them with an animating news background?

Would look a lot more professional.

Sport DVE their coverage. News24 can't coz the DVE is used for other stuff amongst other reasons

DVE...
D igital V ideo E ffects.
It's a box of tricks which manipulates TV pictures to move them around the screen & produce wacky effects. The most common DVE and best in my opinion in circulation is Questech Charisma.

Just been watching as BBC ONE joined 24, and noticed that at 3:10 Talking Movies was on, Is this normal? I'm not usually up this late so I don't know but isn't it meant to be news on the hour and then programmes at half past?

Just after 0300, every piece of automation kit decided to stop working and nothing could be accessed.

The Presenter did a marvelous job sustaining until World found a tape to play out, then N24 played the Talking Movies tape until the bottom of the hour, by which time the automation was back up & running
