For a second weekend running, BBC News 24 has 2 presenters between 1300 and 1900 at weekends! Last week it was Phil Hayton and Jane Hill on Saturday, and Peter Coe and Sarah Montague on Sunday. Today is Phil and Maxine Mawhinney, but I'm not sure yet who'll be on tomorrow, as the schedules haven't been changed.

This would be to do with the ongoing situation in America, wouldn't it? Many of the back half-hour programmes like Talking Movies aren't running at the moment, so this is probably why.

*cough cough* I wonder where they got that idea.

I think 2 presenter formats work so much better than one, especially on the 24 hour channels where the constant news news news environment must get boring for a presenter - and a viewer. I do remember hearing Bob Friend talking to Anna Botting, it was one of the fluffy stories Sky fit in at the end of the hour, she said something like 'and here's an interesting story...', Bob replied with 'speak for yourself, I've seen it four times already.'

No, I was thinking of ITN - who invented both in-vision newsreading and the two presenter format.

Don't try and be clever... Smile

Martin, unsurprisingly I've seen the BBC mentioned in all but one of your posts.

No surely they got it from the most excellent BBC Regional news programmes that have had a two presenter format for years!

Yes, I'm sure that where they got the idea from.
