Indeed, terestrial TV got julianne joseph with LDN instead of North West Tonight during the title sequence.
The Ident was "This is BBC One, The news now with Huw Edwards and Julianne Joseph, its 10:00". I can only presume it must have been a problem in manchester.

i think you're right, as the Midlands went smoothly as normal.

Well, not quite, don't know if I imagined it but I'm sure I heard the last half-second of the LDN announcement just before the news started!
:-(
That's *Gillian* Joseph
Which reminds me, is LDN the only regional programme not to aston the name of their presenters? The only mention seems to be the ident, which only really appears before the 6:30 programme

midlands today haven't done that since the corporate look replaced the patchwork, although scripts on all non-6:30 shows usually start with "good morning, i'm kay alexander, now the latest news travel and weather here in the midlands" or a similar namecheck.

Pretty much the same story with South Today, I think they used to have an aston on the old BBC 2 summary, not sure if they do now that summary is on BBC 1 though and handed to from London.

North West Today during Breakfast also give a name check, no astons. Then again there are only ever two presenters that read mornings, Tina and Nigel -- quite easy to tell apart. Other than that BBC Manchester only have four newsreaders, all of whom are very familiar faces and don't really need astons. Though of course they get mentioned on the ident.
Quite a small presenting team really. Wales also have a one-presenter format, but there are far more than six readers to choose from.
Reporting Scotland seem to be the only programme to have astons on the main 1830 news.
