Regarding the photo, can anyone clear up something, at the back of the 'circle' there is a grey strip going along the floor. I'm a bit mystified as to what that is?

lol it's taken me since January to open my eyes.

I was always under the impression both sides of the grey had equal floor levels, looking at the photo now I realise thats not the case!

What colour are the railings at the back of the set? In the photo below they look silver...

But in this photo they look at dark type of wood...

I suppose it could just be reflection on them that makes them look brown.

Adam - all you need to do is insert the image url into [img] tags, this can be done using the IMG button when you post a reply. Hope this helps, great pic by the way Very Happy

The set looks so weird like that. One thing... the side screens are rear projected (said on this forum) and are hence black, what about the rear wall, how is that done?

The floor looks better in this photo though - it's a lot lighter. Has anyone got photos of the previous national set when it wasn't lit?

All the railings on the BBC News sets are metal - it is just the lighting which is making them look different on the screengrab.

The rear screens are also rear projected - however different (and cheaper) screen material can be used for them. This is because they don't need to cope with being lit from the front - whereas the two sidescreens have to be able to be viewable with a lit presenter stood very close in front of them. The sidescreens therefore need higher contrast screens so that they don't wash out too much when lit from the front.
