Did we really have to have Colin Murray on?? I'm sorry but the guy is an utter embrassment. Had the misfortune of having to endure him at Belfast Intl Airport last weekend too.

Where was Colin? I only missed a few minutes of the show (switched over during one of Westlifes bits), must have missed him.

The crowds were played out an extra Westlife song that wasn't included in the broadcast to allow the stagecrew to set up the next act - which involved wheeling in a piano.

The link around it would have given it away but it was never confirmed.

At the start however, a great continuity moment was missed.

Paddy was supposed to V/O over the Skateboard ident (the link between H&W cranes and intro singer) but this was dropped at the last minute whilst it was being played out on one of the screens to the crowd - presumably because the same crew worked on Music Live at the Palace!

There was an hour long time delay (or about that) between the concert and the BBC transmission - when Geldof (the highlight of the night for me) was on stage, it was still daylight around the City Hall, while it was night time where I live, unless I live in a parallel universe Smile

Great production by BBC NI btw, I think Belfast came across really well and all looked very professional.

The last time I past the Music Live stage on Thursday afternoon, they had colour bars with a diamond-shaped iris in the middle, and were testing the mikes.

And they pulled the stage down quickly enough in time for yesterday's Marathon - for all the time they spent putting the stage up! Smile

Did anyone else spot the front gates of the City Hall forming part of the stage?

I had a pair of tickets for Beautiful Night but didn't end up going because of illness and not being able to get back home conveniently after the concert ended - good job too as it overran by half an hour, mainly due to Paddy Smile - and to be honest, I don't regret missing it, it was a bit of a disappointment.

Were the Hothouse Flowers a substitute act for Dolores O'Riordan and Gabrielle, who were billed but didn't appear on the night? They did a great set, a fantastic calypso version of "Don't Go", and IMO more enjoyable than the acts they replaced.

And nice to see Paddy get flummoxed over Zucchero's wife Laughing

Colin Murray was on, interviewed by Paddy Kielyy between Westlife's "World of our Own" and Bob Geldof's set.

I've met Colin Murray, he's not as annoying as he seems on screen.

There is a big clock just beside Burger King which I think may have been in shot a few times which probably gave it away - still the lighting continuity between the Waterfront gig which was 2 days previously and the City Hall gig was good - your average punter at home wouldn't have really noticed any difference!

I wasn't really a BBC NI Production - alot of the crew was from London, for example the floor manager was brought in, but a local one directed Paddy.

Local people were there as AFMs and camera ops, with alot of the kit and crew brought in from London. One of the BBCs biggest OB trucks was brought over for the occasion

Plus, if it was BBC NI - you'd expect BBC Northern Ireland plastered everywhere and not on banners or shone onto buildings that won' t be seen on camera!

It wasn't down to him at all! Well maybe a bit - it was becuase soundchecks were going on in the background when he was trying to record links and the people woudln't shut up. Alanis Morisette had to start again becuase there was was wind-howling coming through on her microphone (it was getting windy at that point) and one other time because of a sound problem.

I was going by the Bank of Ireland clock above Karen Millen Smile

Granted - the continuity between the Laganside pre-recorded material and the City Hall gig was excellent.

Well there was that clock too Smile

As to Laganside, well, the VTs were played in well, but shame it was another chance fo Christine Blakely to make another appearance if driving along the M3 isn't enough with her face across a big advertising banner.

Lucky for me I can't see that Christine hoarding from my window then!

She isn't promoting the Belfast Giants at the Odyssey is she? Smile

It's on the building just after Royal Mail if your going away from Odyssey - and no it's for Sunday Life.

Well she's on the cover of magazine they're promoting. She's getting everywhere these days. Wonder if she's doing CIN this year with point-o-rama man himself, John Daly :/

Oh yes, the new Sunday Life colour supplement! I know someone who will be working on that.

"Wonder if she's doing CIN this year with point-o-rama man himself, John Daly :/"

I can imagine she will unless she is suddenly poached by the BBC network (maybe) or UTV (not likely).

Wasn't Christine involved with CIN last year - John in the arena, Christine roving around the Odyssey complex, Donna in charge of the phone room?

To be honest, I got blind drunk watching CIN last November and can't remember any of it. The best way to make the show go by quicker Smile

It was Johon in the arena, Her well... doing her hiya thing before the concert finished and Daly ended up getting drunk in Bar Seven. Donna was in the wee room.

It's just .... terribly cringing - thank god for regions on BBC DSat Smile

Meanwhile I'm sitting in an Avid suite working on a promo wondering should I risk putting an ITV logo on it for a laugh.

For those techies - I'm sitting at 2:1 res but considering dropping it down to 10:1 to see if they notice Smile

It's kind of getting to be a game, how much can you deteriorate the quality before someone notices!
