The region is slightly too big.

It should lose Herefordshire and north Gloucestershire (i.e. the area served by the Ridge Hill transmitter) so as to become the same size as Carlton's CNWest region.

Then it should rebrand as BBC West Midlands/ West MidsTdy.

Ridge Hill country could then join Oxfordshire (which would break away from South Today) to form a BBC South Midlands/ South MidsTdy region, based at studios in/near the City of Oxford (which would match Carlton's CNSouth region)

Isn't the LkNrth (Leeds) camera on top of a block of flats or something? By the way, where is the LkNrth (Hull opt-out) camera?

The Hull opt-out camera is focused on the Humber Bridge.

Wow, I have to say that the background view behind Nick Owen is possibly the best one I have seen! I'm not keen on the side bar though, I thought that these were designed in London and therefore the same design for each region? (Either that or BBC North West has great designers, because NWT's side bar is great!) Where it says NEWS NEWS NEWS, how does SPORT SPORT SPORT fit on when they do they, um, sport?

For anyone who's wondering, here is the North West Tonight sidebar. You can also see from the two images below, how different Nigel Jay looks when he's in the proper studio (top one) and when he's in the self-opt studio (bottom one)!!

Ah, so I'm not the only person who wonders that then!

Midlands Today seemed to have aquired a new desk, or modified the old one.

Here are some pictures: (Sorry for the large quantity - but they also give you an idea of the ever changing presentation of Midlands Today):

Finally. no particular relevance, but I had to include it for pure comedy value:

(In this three second sequence, Nick changes position and goes through all his facial expressions, very funny when you see it in full)

Any potential slideshow material there Katherine? Wink

Would this be just a room with a CSO screen sitting behind Nigel?

Also, watching Midlands Today at 18.30, I noticed that the headline bed is different from the other headline beds I've heard across the regions... the ones that Midlands today uses don't have a set music beat, it's like the sound man just restarts the headline bed when a new headline appears.

And has Sue Beardsmore ever presented the main story EVER? It seems like everytime I tune in, she starts off with a 'hello to Midlands Today etc...' then with Nick talking.

OK, Midlands Today Slide Show coming up - Can I have a few humorous shots of the presenters? I have a sort-of storyline in mind, but I need some quirky shots!

Kath, Do you know what building or structure the camera is actually mounted on? Smile
