They were just about do the draw, when LOTS of shouting occured in the background, and sarah cawood stepped out of shot and the cameras went wild and then focused tightly on the lotto machine before cutting to the still of the Jet set logo, and then they cut the audio from the studio, leaving alan ad-libbing brilliantly for around 90 secs with the echo of his voice.
there were at least 2 protesters, one was a woman holding up a banner and shouting. Then crew members with headphones rush the set and the sounds of scuffles are heard while the cameras go wild.

They were just about to do the draw when there was shouting off camera. a man holding up some sort of banner and wearing a t-shirt with 'National Lottery' style (red and blue) writing on it was standing in the middle of the stage shouting.
They cut back to Eamon and the woman presenter with stagehands running past, then the floor manager stood in the middle of the stage and shouted some instructions (the mics had been cut by this point), Eamon and the other presenter walked around the back of the machine to get off the set and they cut away to a slide with Alan Dedicoat filling for a couple of minutes
The thread title says BBC1 was taken off air, yet then you refer to Alan Deadicoat continuing to talk throughout the incident?
The thread title is misleading. The programme was interrupted but the channel and the studio for that matter stayed on air

Can someone explain in words of less than 'OMG', what exactly happened?
