Statement just out saying that C4 have got a 3 year deal starting with a celebrity special in 2017 for Stand Up To Cancer...

Two words.

Publicity stunt.

By whom? Who gains from it?

Seemingly, Channel 4 by not being as **** as ITV.

I'm pretty shocked, though. I mean, they're not gonna get that many viewers from Channel 4, honestly. So weird.

I'm sure Love Productions don't care as long as they get their money for the 3 year deal.

Well if it's off to Channel 4, at least it won't drop through the floor standards wise, or at least not as far as it would have fell under ITV anyway. It'll be safe there. Not from ads, but content wise it'll be safe.

Fair enough. But not a good business move.

So, were the BBC kept in the dark about the Channel 4 deal then? Seems strange to issue a press release asking Love to "change their minds" - which made me think nothing was definite.

Tonight has gone pretty fast as far as this is concerned:
6pm approx: First reports of BBC losing Bake Off
7pm approx: BBC issues press release
7.45pm approx: First reports of C4 getting Bake Off

No clue. Might just get annoyed that Channel 4 give them cheaper contracts.

Presumably this means it will now be presented by either Alan Carr or Jimmy Carr?!

Have you seen some Channel 4 programmes?
