They are essentially openly begging Love Productions to change their minds. Quite unprecedented.

Far from it - I think they predicting a negative public reaction and undermining Love's argument that it wasn't about money.

Of possible note:

Surely without any the four key people it won't last? You only have to see how the Comic Relief / Sport Relief specials suffer without Mel and Sue together to see that.

I'd say it's a bit to big to be a publicity stunt. I can't even remember anything like this happening before.

The BBC will not be held to ransom by Bake Off's ultimate owners SKY.

Its at its peak so its downhill anyway from here. If it went to ITV they would make a mess of it like they have everything else as ITV's culture is go for the lowest possible common denominator and then go a bit lower.

There are plenty of good new shows out there just waiting to get their chance.

The BBC reacting this way is unprecedented. If a broadcaster loses a show to another channel it usually just issues a statement saying the series is ending.

Telegraph saying Channel 4 have it now.

Presumably there's some real bad blood between them there. The BBC likely feel they've been unreasonable, and likely too greedy.

Must be something odd behind the scenes, I'd reckon

Seemingly, Channel 4 - by not being as **** as ITV.

"Could you imagine if it went to them ?"

In any case, get ready for penis cakes galore.

C4 would be a better home for Bake Off under the circumstances, but will see a ratings dip. Spin-off show for More4?
