Doesn't look like there'll be any baking rip offs on the BBC, Love have twice tried to sue them over Hair and the Big Painting Challenge. Ridiculous of course, anyone who works in development knows that coming up with a new show involves nicking elements of other shows all the time, the whole industry revolves around that. A horrible company to work for judging by comments in the office today.

Suggestion for Mel & Sue replacement.... French & Saunders?

It's C4 so Kirstie & Phil.

New vehicle for Noel.

That might be so crazy an idea it could actually work…

I reckon tomorrow's episode will rate extremely well, given the news, I must say.

I think they'll be many in the industry pondering over this one for a while. Whilst things like The Voice and Top Gear team changes aren't a shock, there are not that many examples of programmes that are so associated with one broadcaster being effectively pinched by another. A lesson to all broadcasters who buy off indies I suppose.

I haven't seen any trails for it tonight. Admittedly I haven't caught every junction but it wouldn't surprise me if they've not even shown as much as a sting to promote the programme. Maybe tomorrow night just needs a defiant "This is BBC One" introduction.

Given the silence from Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry, it suggests that at the very least, they may be entertaining the thought of the move to Channel 4 at this moment in time. I suppose "Bake Off" with Paul and Mary, along with one / two new hosts would still very much be a viable success for Channel 4.

I think the best case scenario here would be for Paul and Mary to step down also, and then if it's true that Channel 4 aren't properly committed yet, for them to back out as they've signed onto a programme quite different from the one now offered. Love might then have to go grovelling back to the BBC, who only offer them a modest increase this time, which is accepted, and everything carries on as it did before. This, however, is highly unlikely. I'll be surprised if the judges do stick around though, as I said before Paul is one I strongly remember saying 'we like being on the BBC', on Graham Norton's show.

I'm pretty certain he expressed similar sentiments on The One Show (?) when he was on that a few months ago.

This is the same Love Productions that threatened to sue a community fundraiser in a Cardiff suburb for running a baking contest for charity.
