Particularly if she's offered a nice cushy Delia-esq cookery programme with an accompanying book. A BBC show would sell more books than one on C4.
I think another big decider in this will be the fact that none of the on screen talent were consulted (according to reports).

You can't guarantee of course that Mary will want to return when the show moves, it may be a natural time for her to call it a day. As it may be for many prominent members of the team.

Well for four times the commissioning fee they are producing roughly twice the programming they did for the BBC.
On that basis I presume everyone involved in making the programmes - both on and off screen - will have their salaries immediately doubled along with extra holiday and improved terms and conditions.
Oh, sorry, by everyone I actually meant the executives, who'll receive massive bonuses whilst payments to the parent company will soar. Everyone else will have to make do with a new coffee machine and pool table in an office they never visit.
And what are Love Productions actually going to do with this massive hike in budget?

The ironic outcome could be the government become outraged at Channel 4 pursuing a blatantly commercial path and decide to privatise them, almost in defence of the BBC. This despite the outcome being exactly what Whittingdale wanted from the charter renewal.
Seriously what is Jay Hunt up to?
Channel 4 is very likely to be privatised after this.
To the detriment of both BBC and ITV.

Maybe it will move out of the tent and into a country house:
"Big Bake Off House, this is Devina. You're live on Channel 4, please do not swear".
or
"8 out of Baker's Dozen Does Countdown" with Jimmy Carr eking out an hour of jokes about nice buns.

BBC 'fell £10m short' of keeping The Great British Bake Off
The BBC fell £10m short of the amount of money required to keep The Great British Bake Off, BBC News understands.
The corporation is thought to have offered £15m per year to keep the programme on the BBC.
That would have been double the amount the BBC currently pays for the show and its sister programmes such as An Extra Slice and the Sport Relief specials.
But it is understood Love Productions refused to entertain any offers below £25m per year.

Good interview with Lorraine Heggessey at that link.
Quote:
Lorraine Heggessey, who was the controller of BBC One between 2000 and 2005, said a production company walking away from negotiations used to be an unusual occurrence.
"In my day there were often tough negotiations over programme budgets, but in the end there was an unwritten rule that you did not walk away and take your show somewhere else," she told BBC Two's Newsnight.
"It sounds like Love Productions were going to go [to a rival broadcaster] anyway, that's what worries me because the BBC has invested a huge amount of licence fee payers' money in growing this show."

Michael Grade has chipped in, saying Channel 4 have "shot themselves in the foot" by snagging Bake Off, as it undermines its arguments against privatisation:
