...which isn't the point. The rights are sold for transmission to German tv for transmission to Germany and not outside its borders - that's what (according to the Guardian) the Hollywood studios are bothered about.

Why would you want to watch them with English dubbing?
Surely they are much better in the original German?

Subtittling is the preferred mode, surely?

The English is the original dubbing! I persume you're being sarcastic?
Valid point about subtitling, but the Germans don't keep 888 reserved for subtitles, and don't even do subtitles in their own language to my knowledge, let alone foreign ones like English.
