I can't believe that, apparently, the title sequence will identify the programme as 'BBC LDN', surely they should have the whole word 'London'?

Although it is very different from the other regions/nations, it isn't quite TOTALLY removed from the generic look, as I'd feared. For this I am thankful. The laminate wood looking floor is generic. Also those circles in the very red image on the screens are like the white ovals that eminate from the region shape on other regions' title sequences.

However, the use of RED for those chairs and on the screens makes it more similar to the BBC's NATIONAL news output (e.g. main news studio's carpet; News 24's tele-infested wall etc) I'd have though they'd use BLUE - to be like other regions' carpets.

I am surprised how big the Marlybone newsroom looks. I had thought it was a tiny place. I agree with the person who said it looks like the ITN building (It reminds me of ITN's Election 2001 studio).

Well, I'm looking forward to the new show too. I am all for the corporate look and titles, and am loving it even more since they went widescreen, but they need a change, simple as that.

London's news needs rebranding, the region is totally different now. Yes, it covers areas outside London, but that has and will always be a problem.

Give this new show a chance! It can either be succesful or not, and if the brand is recognised well enough, it will be. I can't wait for it to start! Smile

Dread to think what ntls EPG will call it, I doubt it will change the channel name to BBC1 London from South East, and as for the prgoramme name, this week apparently we are getting South Today, so nothing would surprise me!

I don't really get why 'LDN' was used. Did someone at the Beeb get lazy and didn't bother to write the extra two O's and the N?

And how is it actually pronounced? Is it B-B-C L-D-N? or is it BBC Llll-dnnn...

(I don't mean to sound cynical... I'm really tired today)

I hear everything relaunches on October 1st. then they can finally get rid of that dodgy temporary set. I do like the way the programme has the red for the BBC news in a 'hint' of a corporate look, but without it actually being the corporate look, although I think they could have done something with the set to give that a hint of corporateness as well. Simple things like yellow walls. Of course the set was designed well before the title and name were even decided! Smile

You have to remember it's not actually a set/studio ... it is just plonked in the middle of the BBC London newsroom ... you'll see all the radio people (and indeed studios) in the background.

However the area was designed to hold the 'studio' area. I was using set in a rather generic term

'BBC LDN' -- anything to do with the name that will appear on RDS radios when London Live changes?

Well, it currently says 'BBCLondn' on RDS, so they only have to remove a couple of letters Smile

I think 3 digit names are good, they can be used a lot, just like I always call Newsroom South East NSE, and previously BBC GLR and 3CR e.t.c.

It's ridiculous.

Who in their right mind sanctioned LDN?

I foresee a Points of View special and a Radio Times bumper letters special of people quite rightly saying it's garbage.

Will we have BBC WLS, BBC SCD, BBC NIR, BBC NWT, etc?

It's just daft.

lONdOn!
