'The BBC's regional news service in London re-launches next month. Newsroom South East will be axed and on October 1 replaced by BBC London News 1. Other parts of the region, previously covered by Newsroom South East, get their own programme.'

Apparently the title is actually just BBC London News. How original - it took them months to think of that... I could have come up with that name in minutes!

Not very imaginative is it. Though i'd still like to know who - apart from Emily Maitlis - is going to be presenting the thing. I'm gonna have a long wait - xmas before I see it - going back to uni soon, goin back to the truly awful Look East.

lol. LDN? Some catchy, funky abbreviation that appears on the titles? I take it it's a bit of a small studio then? Razz:

Fishtank eh? Bloomberg have tanks of fishes in every single newsroom - all 80 something of them. So there.

Will be interesting to see what it'll look like, as it's not in this generic style we've come to love (yeah right).

I'm not sure I want to see Emily Maitlis's legs. Let's just hope she doesn't have that cellulite stuff.

Middle of the news room isn't it!? So it will launch on 1 October I take it... BBC London News (still can't get over how... erm... basic the name is!)

Oooh, can't wait for the new programme now, hope they don't dissapoint us with the new look! Smile

As for the title, well, I can't believe how basic it is either!!

Well if BBC London News is the name, it is quite a simple name.

But thinking about it there aren't many other names. I think you have to keep London in the title - and LNN have nicked London Today/Tonight (so the Beeb couldn't emulate South Today/North West Tonight)

Look London doesn't really have a ring to it.

Newsroom London ? Naah...

Reporting London ? Hmm...

London Live ? Good Name - but the show isn't all live...

London Plus ? (Good name, but history would prevent re-use?)

Points London ? (Nope - cos it doesn't make sense?)

Anything with Capital could be a bit controversial - as the BBC is British (not English) and therefore has more than one national capital?

Newsline London ?

BBC London News does seem really one of the only real choices.

As for the 'studio'... Marylebone High Street doesn't have a news studio - in the sense that there isn't a large windowless room with decent soundproofed floor/ceiling/walls, lighting grid, air conditioning etc. There ARE camera/monitor/computer/microphone connection points all over the building though - from reception to most areas of the newsroom.

I think BBC News London would have sounded better than BBC London News, which doesn't seem to trip off the tongue very well. My vote would still have gone for London Live which sounds good, or even better London Plus, which would have indicated that there is life outside London.

Can't wait for 1st October now...

It's not called BBC London News ... IT's JUST 'BBC London'

The whole of the operation there is being rebranded (the radio station and the website, along with TV) to just BBC London ...

And as Nicky said ... watch out on billboards for BBC LDN ...
