I was watching the start of the BBC 10 news tonight and something struck me. when the clock came on it said BBC One London - normally it says BBC One South East (me living in kent). could this be a first sign of the change over to a separate region for london?? (ps i would get london cos we point and crystal palace and receive Carlton/LWT)
I'll have to check if its BBC ONE London tomorrow!
Thats if my aerial will let me, there is a transmitter directly opposite and uses EXACTLY the same frequencies so its picked up off the back of the aerial! Sometimes it decides to pick that up, other times the strong Crystal Palace signal allows me to watch something at least!

Did the announcer say 'this is BBc 1 in London' or did he just say as usual 'This is BBc 1 in the South East'. By the way about time there was a BBC 1 London also isn't their usually a local programmer on BBC 2 tonight at 7:30pm (Thursday's) I wonder if thta says BBC London

Oh - that's interesting!
I wonder if they were testing a new distribution system allowing a feed to Crystal Palace only.
If the London clock only went out on Crystal Palace, and not on Dover (as others have confirmed), then it may well prove that the links and op-out gear needed for the regional split are now fully separable and working.
Be interesting to know if the SouthEast clock seen from Dover was from Elstree or Tunbridge Wells. (On Digital Terrestrial it may have been full widescreen if it were from TW rather than having thin black bars on the left and right - as Elstree currently operate)

They may of course just have been testing it for one night which means it may not be on tonight! They may be testing it at random times so we'll all just have to keep our eyes open!!

The BBC London caption appeared on both 26/6 and 27/6 at 10pm (not sure about other bulletins). It was shown in my area (south Kent), and I thought we were covered by the Dover transmitter. The announcer did say 'BBC1 in the South East', not London.

BBC1 South East used to have three different ones, but for several months now the only ident they've used (for the 6.30 programme at least) has been the River Thames one.
