I am enjoying people trying to put the standard local radio sting into words, it's quite funny Twisted Evil

We can play "guess the local radio jingle"! How about this one: "de de dum de de de de do do de de dum ... doo dee dee doooo ahhhhhhhhhh-ahhhhhh deee dum de doooo de-de-de-de-de DUM .... deee deeee dee do do, da dee dum"

My translation of 'der der der der DER DER DER' is better illustrated by these:

As mentioned earlier, 3 Counties uses a former TalkSport jingle package, well Radio Solent uses LBC's 1980's theme tune:

Yeah, der der der der DER DER DER is the BBC Local Radio signature tune - every time you hear the der der der der DER DER DER jingle jangle, you're supposed to think "BBC Local Radio". That's the plan anyway! The majority of stations use it on their stations somewhere.

The Solent package has only recently been tarted up; until a few months ago, they were using the exact same cuts used by LBC years earlier.

Radio Suffolk's got one of the best top of hours I think.

I like BBC Radio Lincolnshire's TOTH which is a bit different from those above but still along the same theme... it has a proper build up to the top of the hour like Five Live's.

(listen in the daytime because in the evenings they take the news from Nottimgham which sounds different)

Damn, when I saw the subtitle for this thread, I thought Mickey Stone was coming back to Radio Newcastle! (Think "Look and Read" - and yes, I know he wasn't actually a DJ!)

Anyway I know for a fact that Radio Devon and 3CR both use the generic BBC Local Radio theme... but with slight variations on the musical arrangements... And Southern Counties and BBC London do not use the generic theme.

On a similar topic, has anyone heard any more news as to when the local stations are to start streaming?

But Mickey Stone was a DJ on Radio Newcastle albeit under his real name Peter Rowell!

Are Radio York still using the old news 24 countdown as a headlines bed?

Radio Suffolk has aleways semed to me to have better jingles than any of its compatriots. ISTR that the first two packages came from David Arnold.

The same man as of HTV ... I mean, ITV West ... fame?

And previously GWR's long-serving morning show host?

There was a widely-used David Arnold package that was on Wiltshire Sound, as was then, and also Radio Jersey ... or was it Guernsey ... I can't remember!

The current package for Radios Swindon and Wiltshire was recorded in an attic in Westbury, if Ian Drew's White Horse News is to be believed.

Indeed it was... and the composer guy who's attic it was clambered up the stairs to find the male cellist in the nude. Apparently, that's the way he likes to play!

A good story there, DAS, which I've not heard before, despite living in the same street as the attic till about a year ago.

Care to tell us more?
