Interesting... BBC 1 LDN failed to opt out for the local ident before the 18:30 bulletin, so we got the network Tai Chi ID telling satellite viewers to press button 1 and the "Skateboarders" music was faded up briefly underneath it!

First time I've seen an LDN opt out failure!
What the "we're sorry but we're unable to bring you your regional programme" one? I thought Network simply linked into LDN with a normal announcement and did away with the above announcement?
No, the "press 1 for your regional news" announcement is still made... Can't remember the exact wording but I think its something like "Now on BBC One BBC London News with Emily Maitlis, for other regions Digital viewers should press TV and 1".. I can check the exact announcement tomorrow as NTL now have the Network BBC1 feed as well as your regional feed like Sky do.
And just to confirm I was watching on the BBC 1 London channel and not the network channel!
I mean the lunchtime bullitens are S**t! Everything has been going wrong recently, Videos failling to play, Transmition problems, communicating poblems (when they go for the live weather with Peter), stings failing to play and once we didn't have the ending (it failed!!)
If that wasn't enough the ending often gets cut off!
What is going wrong with LDN???? Is it just lunchtime bullitens???
Also, I don't know if it was just me... but last night in the late bulletin with Sumit Bose, they had the weather with Peter Cockroft and I'm sure it was probably the same weather report from the 18:30 edition because when Peter spoke there was all sorts of hustle and bustle going in the background but the bits Sumit did had no background noise!
And it seems they have that funny hologram thing back again in the studio like they did last year IIRC...
Im pretty sure when i tuned into BBC 1 London on my satellite recently we still get a network ident telling us to press tv and button 1 on our remote. The BBC One box certainly doesnt have any region name like London in it. Come to think of it Look East occasionally play idents that dont have East written in them. Strange. Sorry i know this is a bit off topic but does anyone know why when Look East opt out we get quite a nasty trigger in sound and picture lately.

You don't expect Peter Cockcroft to hang around till 10:30 just to do a weather forecast do you? It's recorded earlier, but is a seperate weather to the evening one (it has tide times and other extra bits)

I think that LDN are experimenting with not opting out - they don't really need to and haven't needed to since July. There is no need for 'press TV and button 1 as everybody except a few non-carded satellite viewers who don't get their own region.
The is an argument for a 'sorry for the loss of your regional programme' anno, but as they went for several decades without one in the Nationwide/London Plus/Newsroom Southeast days, there shouldn't really be any need for one now.

Presumably LDN don't mind the loss of BBC ONE LDN presentation? In the days of London Plus and NSE the Network symbol was South East branded - whereas these days it is generic.
Presumably LDN still have to opt-out for Inside Out and other regional trails - as AFAIK Network sill broadcast a safe trail in these slots. (I remember the days of the 2000 BBC Two regional trail slot for the Thursday BBC Two doc slot when the Elstree trail was on network...)

That is true, but there's nothing to stop that happening these days either if it was thought of by those that decide such things.

Trails yes, Inside Out, probably not as the LDN Inside Out is networked- it;s only the anno that is diffrent, but then everyone else has their own programmes (in normal circumstances)
