The BBC and ITV are again in a huge battle. This time (well technically) its not against EastEnders or Emmerdale but over a certain actor. Ross Kemp! The beeb obviously want Kemp to return to EastEnders & reprise his role as Grant Mitchell. However, ITV now want him to sign a new deal for drama series Ultimate Force. The battle has commenced as both networks have offered Kemp salaries of at least £500,000.

Well, this was obvious. As soon as ITV heard that the beeb wanted Kemp back for EastEnders, of course they were going to try and convince him to stay at ITV. They are worried if Kemp returns to EastEnders that the soap will beat Corrie & Emmerdale, which would inevitably happen anyway. I say Ross - go back to Albert Square, EastEnders needs you!

nah, I think Eastenders needs to move on, and not back so I hope ITV sign him up.

But havent ITV held back from showing some episodes from the latest series of Ultimate Force due to poor ratings or something?

Thst's what I was thinking. Why pull it due to poor ratings then ask him to star in it again. Hopefully he goes back to EastEnders. It's time Corrie had some real competition.

I thought it was due to an episode containing some storyline that wasnt deemed suitable for transmission due to events in Iraq. (I may be wrong though) (Wasnt it around the Ken Bigley drama and there was some kidnapping in Ultimate Force aswell?)

Doesn't Ross Kemp play Grant Mitchell in every role he plays? I think he should return to Enders. Maybe the BBC could swap him for Steve McFadden? Wink

I don't think that Ross needs eastenders. There is always a call for the type of character he plays for itv dramas. As tvf so rightly points out he plays Grant in every role he plays.
I do like to see old characters return for major storylines but i think Eastenders really ought to move on and not rely on old characters to boost the viewing figures.
Fresh faces, good storylines, well written scripts and some seriously good acting is all it needs.

Oh and an injection of humour would not go amiss.

I think they scheduled Ultimate Force incorrectly on a Saturday night, and stretched it to a 90 minute show, when it was a success as an hour on a wednesday night. Why mess with it when it were a success?

Stop worrying your little self over EastEnders threads. If you don't want to read them don't click onto them!
