The BBC is launching a first, providing a number of series and programmes in 'Box Set' format via the iPlayer from 16th December. This offering is in addition to the usual catch-up content.

Tonight, at the BBC’s Christmas Season launch, Charlotte Moore, director of content at the BBC announced plans to bring a host of box-sets and classic programmes back to BBC iPlayer to watch over the holiday period.
In the lead up to Christmas, fans will be able to tuck into a huge number of BBC drama and comedy series, as well as some of its best-loved family and natural history programmes. This, along with a bumper sack of new festive treats across the BBC, will ensure that viewers can enjoy even more great programmes from the BBC this holiday season.

This is what people have wanted for a long time and I'm glad it's happening. The shows might not be to everyone's taste, but lets hope the BBC can continue to make the archive accessible like this (I did e-mail them back in August about classic kids content and they seemed receptive to the idea).

Some of this has launched - Gavin & Stacey, Clique, Thirteen, Fleabag, Josh, Murder in Successville, People Just Do Nothing, Cuckoo, This Country, Bad Education, Him & Her, Bluestone 42, Uncle, The Mighty Boosh are now available. Peaky Blinders also is, but only because all of it aired on BBC Four last week.

So basically BBC3 content then. If only they had a broadcast channel they could put it on!

Doesn't seem to be the usual mix of classic comedies on BBC2 in the afternoons or cult comedy late at night this year.

I think the rest of it will launch after Feud: Bette and Joan, which is on later today.

Am surprised that they're not making the most of this offering by putting it all under a seasonal tab. The casual observer isn't directed to this special load-up, it seems lost in the usual run of the mill programmes available.

Taboo, Line of Duty and EastEnders now available. Also had a trail for Feud saying it was now available (it wasn't).

I agree though, they need to have this available under a special tab, or something on the main page.

EDIT: They will be drawing attention to it, but it seems this has all been put together in a rush...
