They're only 'censoring' their own material, which they are legally entitled to do.
The bottom line is they have a right to and could take it to court if they wanted to
. Although what I don't understand is why they decided to do it now. I had heard that they planned to look into it, and that's from an internal source at BBC, but whether they actually do or not is another matter.

To be honest the arrogance of Mr Hicks and his mates down at MHP is quite shameful. He says that he won't do anything about the files (MP3's) on TV Home, until he is formerly notified.
So in Asa's dreamworld its fine and dandy to break the law until your're told off. Just because everyone else flouts the copyright laws it dosen't make it morally or legally right.
I know for a fact that MP3's from Identz have been used without permission in various personal/commercial projects by people who have downloaded them, which is highly illegal.
Your attitude has changed!
What Asa does and what Identz do are two separate incidents. Asa provides RM's of stuff that's been broadcast, your Soundz are directly ripped from the Beeb.
Who used them for commercial projects then? Surely you can name and shame!

There really isn't any evidence to suggest that the BBC
are
looking into the matter. More likely that they are turning a blind eye, probably as sites like TV Home are
appreciation
sites.
Phillip Dampier has written an excellent piece in the TV Websites forum on this subject.
It seems we are particularly fortunate in the UK over this type of web freedom. Wouldn't it be better top stop drawing attention to this issue and go on enjoying these resources - for purely appreciative purposes of course.

I was tempted to copy a message I posted before but I do suggest people look back at it especially the bit about 'send fake mail' it could proove very important.
Anyway Krusty, the beeb have the right to remove whatever content they own but are only likely to be bothered in clean things like the mp3s on identz, video files are likely to be safe because they aren't really of broadcast quality (ie you couldn't use them full screen on a tv station!) however you could try it with sounds. Anyway I think Asa's attitude is perfectly fine, as he has been actively encouraged with the site (what else do you call being featured in Liquid News?), its perfectly sensible that he should assume he is ok rather than worry before any problems have surfaced. Anyway whatever you do don't slag the beeb off; think about it this was, you produce something someone else uses parts of it and then complains about the fact that you might be trying to stop them, thats out of order.

Just think this whole topic could have been started off by someone trying to be a fake BBC worker. We have plenty of people who work for tv companies on the forum. I don't think the BBC will care about video files of old idents and stuff especially old ones that arn't used any more. Infact they are probably glad in some ways as it gives them more promotion. Don't forget we also pay for alot of satelite channels. People have video recorders and they are going to use them. Anyone running a TV Prsentation website is only educating other people who are facinated by it or simply haven't seen a paticular ident in ages. But we should not be slagging off the BBC as this is most probably a hoax and they won't be as nice if we slag them off for summit they haven't done.
I believe Asa is doing the right thing, if the BBC want him to remove certain sound files then he will and they will give him a chance. Don't forget TV Home got promotion on Liquid News, they also talked to ASA like it was an important job, remember when the Woman asked him 'Is this going to be a classic', talking to him like he was an expert, which is true, most idents fans are. I think people have now panicked on this thread, just carry on as normal, if this is a hoax it just shows u how much damage one member can cause!

REALLY!!!
Everyone must get a grip!
As I have stated before, there will be no need for undue worry or fear of this site being closed down.
There has been no upholdable copyright infringement, nor have the site participents gained financially from the use of Broadcast Images.
It is an internet site, purely for people interested in TV and Idents. Nothing more.
But what does tick me off, and I mean this most strongly, is the attitude of many members who continue slagging each other off over their different views.
I have not worked in broadcasting for donkeys years to partake in stupid childish banter with somepeople that continue to behave like children. This is not a schoolyard! it is a forum for people to express their views.
