may i remind people of when Asa himself appeared on liquid news, and clips of this site appeared on screen. So the BBC already know about this site.
So he could be safe then, good apparently it is the same with TV Ark he apparently said it was alright to have them on there as long as there is a disclaimer which ASA has as well as TV Ark & the TV Room but I can't see the point of when the old ones haven't been used for years

I know! It does sound fishy. I cant see why it is such a high priority at the BBC. We all have a strong suspision that it is something far greater than we could imagine which is why they are trying to remove all traces of BBC material such as sounds, images and videos.

Agreed. What a coincidence that this statement comes so soon after the whole thorny copyright issue. Not that I am generally suspicious in nature but I think I would bet that the originating IP address of 'Impressed' is not from the BBC.
As has been said, the BBC are more than aware of this site. If the BBC are in fact pursuing similar websites then I am quite sure they will get in touch of their own accord.
Just for the record, there was no such official reprimand or warning to the other website mentioned. The removal/watermarking of particular files was a choice taken by the individual who runs it. The BBC, BT or their lawyers had nothing to do with it. This was confirmed by the 'webmaster' to more than one forum user.

This is totally stupid for years stuff like this has been on the internet why do BBC think they are part of some exclusive club & rules that exempts them from everything the TV licesnce is an example only the UK pays ojn ehtoughout the whole world which techincally means that we get NO free TV also there is no harm in this what so ever & it is a waste of licence fee money taking people to court over silly things like this I don't own a website but these people put alot of effort into them for something that is completely harmless plus the fact seeing as we pay a licence don't we techincally all own a part of the BBC a bet that no one minds about this

I also agree that this sounds a bit fishy. It could be that Alice is indeed concerned and trying to warn us, but howcome her email address is 'thesweetie@genie.co.uk' and not a BBC email address. Or is she doing that because emails she may get sent may be monitored.
Hmm. Still not convinced.

hmmm, so you joined today, at work, at the bbc, to alert us? im not questioning your motives, but i would have imagined the existing forum members who are bbc insiders might have alerted the forum to any serious clamp down.
presentation sites are for eductional/reference purposes only - so no comercial gain is being made. and i accept the bbc have the right to prevent any usage of their material, but i think the bbc will contact any webmasters indevidually by email, requesting content removal - and if requests are ignored, then i would expect legal action.
although i do think people should include a copyright acknowledgement on pages containing images/audio/video - as a matter of courtesy to the people who the content belongs to.

Just a quick post. I mentioned my opinions on this subject in the thread in the Websites forum the other day.
I appreciate the concern but until I receive an official notice from a broadcaster, I will happily continue to update the site, as will all webmasters I'm sure. This is not arrogance, simply a realisation that there's no point 'panicking' unduly.
Regards, Asa

Just ignore all stupid postings warning of legal action by the BBC.
It is all in the PUBLIC domain, and this site has a disclaimer.
There is simply nothing to worry about!
Have no fear, as long as no commercial profit is gained by publishing copyrighted material on the website.
