Sorry if you've read this sort of thing from me before, but I was wondering what people think of the current BBC 1 and 2 idents.

BBC 2 - not too bad, but BBC 1 err!!! Everything about them is awful, the programme trailers occasionally appear in different fonts, the shade of red changes from one day and one regional company to the next.

What does everyone else think?? Please say that you agree?????!!!!!

Yes, I'll never forgive the Thatcher government for selling off all the BBC regions to private enterprise.

As with Railtrack, there's no coherent strategy any more.

We've all ready given comments on this in another thread yesterday where you simply rephrased the quesetion. However in response to this particular question I personally believe BBC THREE has the worst idents simply because I don't like the blobs. BBC TWO idents have grown on me, that two being rather good now although annoying at first. BBC ONE is the best of the lot showing a wide variety of different cultures and dances that normally would be ignored with a catchy theme tune.

Bring back the balloon! There were far the best idents the channel had, and they fitted with the channel well.

I can't really remember the balloon but from the clips I've seen it's too old fashioned. Either love or hate the current BBC ONE idents but you have to admit the fact that at least these are modern and actually fit with the current day and age.

I miss the 1991 1 Globe, and 2's, but I think BBC3 put alot of effort of comedy into the idents.

You can't really remember them? It's less than 3 years since they were removed - how old are you?!

What is "old-fashioned" about them?

I preferred the balloon as well.

The worst to me has to be BBC Three because I hate the Blobs, the best is BBC One

The balloon was my favourite too, the current lot of BBC1 idents seem like a 'damp effort' to me. How I'd like to see the globe back...

I didn't really watch BBC ONE back in those days, I only really started watching it, and paying attention, in mid 2003 and even then the only idents I remember from that time and before was one showing of Ballet when it was used regularly and one showing of Acrobats. In fact I can only vaguely remember watching the balloon flying around some fields. Now if that's not boring then what is?

And as for old fashioned how many balloons do you see nowadays? Not many. They were appropiate for the time but if we didn't change and still had the balloon now, people would be grumbling how old and dated they are and insist on a change.

Rubbish. Firstly, balloons are prevalent in areas of the country such as Sussex, Kent etc- for some- seeing them is a daily occurrance.

I think if you did some research, you would find that the balloons were, on the whole, preferred to the current idents.

I for one HATE the PC brigade that feels it constantly has to shove minorities on screen - and the current set of 'idents' are doing just that.

Still, I'd prefer the old Globe back though...

I grant that fact but I personally haven't seen a balloon in this country for a very long time.

You say that now considering that we haven't seen the globe for almost three years. Had we seen it day in day out people would be grumbling as they always do.

Need I remind you that this is a public service broadcast and therefore has to show minorities. At least the idents show the wide variety of different people in our society and begins to show to us that they are being more widely accepted (like they should be). Would you rather ignore everyone who's different and act as though they aren't important?
