BBC HD - New idents

I remember David Lowe saying in an interview recently on Radio 2 that he was composing music for some BBC Idents. Could the music he composed be the music used in these new BBC HD idents?

I noticed a second new ident being used on the BBC HD channel at the weekend. The latest features a cat running through a garden, which turns into a lion when reflected through the glassy spinning diamond thing. Looked rather nice.

Managed to catch my first iPlayer HD programme last week - VERY impressive.

I didn't honestly think I'd see HD streaming across the web so quickly, so hats off to the Beeb for that.

Blimey though - it really shows up who's got bad skin.

Its not bad at all its 720p I think and looks good!

I was a bit concerned at first that there was only one ident (the boys fishing), but hopefully they'll keep adding new ones. I think the concept's great and creates a really strong, classy identity. Looking forward to some more soon hopefully.

Simple yet very effective. A clean cut and smart set of idents now, just hope to see the set extended now.

So there I was uploading the first of the new idents from April to YouTube when it looks like the BBC have just done the same - and also shown off 3 others. Anyone know if these are on air yet? If not I guess the Ice Cream one would be perfect before Strictly...

Absolutely adore the sound design of these, especially the ambient/diegetic elements instead of over-bearing musical motifs. Only thing I'm not a fan of is the full-frame black BBC logo. Just seems a bit naff after the other great visuals.

The Ice Cream van one has been used for ages... at least a few months

The Walkies ones I saw the other day for the first time and I have not seen the Music one yet.
