A few more details released http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/4753607.stm

They now have a website up http://www.bbc.co.uk/hd . If the Flash animation is a low quality version of the actual ident, great!

By the sound of things they'll be the BBC HD channel on Sky's EPG on Thursday. I'm guessing that it will be "standard definition" to entice those who haven't got HD (which no Sky viewer will have until the 22nd anyway!) to get it?

It's already started, only they have been using a strange version of the H.264 codec which is why people haven't been able to pick it up!

I've been watching in on Freeview. It is on RF channel 31, Logical Channel 501.

It is using a full implementation of H264 including MBAFF - which a lot of software codecs (including the fast CoreAVC) don't yet support. Some satellite H264 receivers don't "see" it on DSat because it is flagged in a different way to other H264 streams.

I'm not getting it full speed yet - but my PC isn't that powerful.

The HD part of the logo for some reason just reminds me of BSB. (No, not the Backstreet Boys Laughing )

Yes - me too. The diamond shape is reminiscent of the Squarial diamond that BSB used in their channel branding. (At least they aren't calling it BBC HD NOW or BBC HD GALAXY)
