Why doesn't this channel show more new programming during the day?

For example Points of View is on next week on BBC Two but BBC HD are showing repeats either side. They only seem to show HD programming in primetime, and they dropped Family Guy after a few episodes during the last run (not the current one) of new episodes on BBC Three. I understand BBC Two takes priority over Three and Four but it seems strange they don't show more Three and Four programming nowadays. It's not BBC Two HD yet.

No, but they're obviously softening us up to make the eventual change seamless ?

If that's so then why are they not simulcasting more BBC Two shows like the aforementioned PoV?

Well, PoV is hardly in the public's psyche as a BBC 2 prog ?

I thought BBC 2 HD plans had been scrapped and BBC HD was staying as it is?

Somebody in another thread stated it as fact when really was just citing an opinion. They said that BBC HD would remain alongside BBC One HD and BBC Two HD. The whole point of changing BBC HD to BBC Two HD is cost-cutting, so effectively creating a new HD channel would make no sense.

Oh. That happens a lot round here. Annoying, isn't it?

There's actually a programme on BBC HD tomorrow (Facing the Music, a BBC World programme), which isn't being shown on any other BBC channel in the UK.

We are approving changes to the BBC’s High Definition provision although further work is needed to define the BBC’s long term plans in this area.

We are approving the Executive's proposals to make further investments into High Definition, including:

- Launching a simulcast of BBC Two in HD in 2012

- Launching full BBC One HD channels for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to replicate the existing standard definition channel in each Nation in 2012.

In order to enable these changes, the BBC will need to close the BBC HD channel.

So in actuality the BBC are actually launching 4 new HD channels, and closing 1.

I guess for now we'll just have to wait until the launch of BBC Three and Four HD.

No - they're giving the 3 regions the ability to opt out on BBC One HD - not the same as launching a new channel (which would have a significant amount of new HD content, as will be the case with BBC Two HD).
