Unfortunately I have failed to find any information relating to whym or on whose advice, Richard Ryder made the grovelling apology to the government on behalf of the BBC.

The BBC should not have had to grovel or apologise to the government full stop.

The whole saga resulted from a reporter acting unprofessionally, but that same reporter did us all a public service in the end by causing deserved embarrassment for Blair and his minions.

If anyone should apologise, it is our honourable leader for such a vile attack on the BBC.
