I think it would be a good pre-news ident. One was made but never used but the news does need a special ident.

I used to work for the BBC and have always been in love with the corporate identity (Pre Dancers et al). Currently I work as a video editor in Florida.
In answer to your question, I used Ulead Cool 3D Studio to generate the globes, one normal and the other stretched. I exported them as seperate elements and imported them into Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5. I moved the elements arount and applied transparency and a little distortion and added the titles. It took about 3 hours in total.
Thanks for your comments folks and an entertaining community. I guess I'll try some more ideas.
I was wondering if anyone had the skills to convert the still into an SWF clock - I would happily share the credit.

Yes, brilliant globe Caroline and brilliant clock Mulder! Is anyone going to send these ideas to the BBC? Not that they'd take any notice of course, but it's worth a try because these are dam good ideas.
