Not seen this before - on the beginning of the weather on iPlayer, there's a generic BBC ident featuring glass blocks...

Similar to the BBC Arabic TV idents?

I'm fairly certain there was a thread about this some time ago, can't remember which one though. Smile

EDIT: Ah found it, since archived...

Well i caught the end of Eastenders last night, and noticed at the end the BBC blocks animated followed by productions fading onto the screen at the end, the rotating blocks looked good, but when productions fades on it looks like a really bad mock.

But why, oh why, oh why do they have to put the BBC DOG over the top of the BBC Ident?

Are they seriously afraid you'll forget you're watching the BBC until all the glass blocks have formed up to spell, um, er, you know, BBC?

This had a thread on here a few months ago.

Its the new generic ident to be used across all platforms. The musical jingle is also to be used on TV, Radio and online on the iPlayer. The rotating cubes is very much part of the BBC brand now.

It reminds me a bit of one of those idents that ITV1 used in the celebrity era

It's used on BBC iPlayer when you watch BBC Weather.

If only somebody had mentioned that in the first post.
