There's currently a Japanese season airing on BBC FOUR, and the channel's presentation has been changed to reflect this.

The theme is figures of speech with each of the idents explaining a different phrase. In between programmes there are longer clips focussing on other idioms.

Though that is a two.

The usage of japanese characters in idents for a japanese season is common practice.

All are very nice uses of Kanji in a designed sense as well!

I remember seeing the trail for this season before the idents actually came into use. I hadn't expected they would adapt the parts of the trail into these 'extended' ident versions, but it's very nice to see.

Interesting that these, it seems, have replaced the normal symbols for now - usually these types of idents are shown only before the relevant programmes.
