For a couple of weeks or so now, BBC Four has been running a new promo for itself with the strapline 'Colour. Contrast. Extra Brightness.'

This week has seen a couple of presentation tweaks too. In line with BBC One and Two, the channel's logo is now unboxed and centred on trailers. Even the trailer above has had the treatment:

Before...

and after...

And the endboards for trailers have been changed as well. (Myself, I never liked the radiating gradient. These are far superior.)

One step closer to going back to the 1997 stripped style logos! Very Happy (I kid!) But seriously, a move for the better and at least the channels are getting a bit more consistent in their branding.

One of the promos was shown on BBC TWO, looked great in HD,

Not sure on the endcap from the still, but how long has BBC4 had this look now? Can't even remember what the trailers looked like for the first version with the voice activated idents. These have dated better than the other BBC channels though.

The trailers for the original look had a semi-transparent black bar at the top of the screen with the programme info in it. The first trailer design for the current look used solid colour boxes IIRC.

Saw the promo on BBC TWO HD the other night and thought it was very nice idea. I agree with Andrew; the new endboards are a definite step up.

Seemed immediately apparent to me that this design fits the whole look better than the previous style.

I've got a few recordings of it from One and Two HD and when you view frame by frame, it's not fully HD - certainly not the channel graphics, and a few of the clips.

Thanks for the heads up Andrew. Rarely watch BBC Four myself... Wink

I'd say the majority of clips were in HD, but the graphics certainly are upscaled from SD...

Bit of a pity for such a colourful design - it could have looked extra vibrant. But, this detracts little from the promo.

ISTR that the BBC Four ident box was in the bottom right during trailer content and that the info used to knock it in and up into centre position.
