A new look for BBC Four from September 10th (September 2005)

Good, but not absolutely fantastic.

As for the trailers - I like the way the logo moves at the end, but it's a bit unneccessary at the beginning. Wouldn't surprise me if the opening animation was dropped after a while.


As for the idents - I don't think they are obvious enough that they are four images making one. At the moment the changes in the image just look like some continuity error rather than part of the design!

Surely they are necessary at the beginning and the end so that when trails are played back to back the location of the logo matches?

Except of course in the wee hours last night we were treated to the same trailer back-to-back, one in the old style one in the new.

Anybody seen the new "BBC Four begins at 7pm" slide yet?

The BBC "What's On" trailer/promo that is used across the channels now shows the new BBC4 style idents in its flicking imagery.

Not really as it doesn't matter when they play BBC2 / BBC4 logos back to back etc.

Liking the idents. Liking the trails. Not liking the slides - like a batenburg cake on speed!

Should have gone for 4 shades of one colour rather than the gaudy thing they have now.

Just watched one of the new idents and I'm left wondering why the old idents were replaced. These new idents seem to lack something which the old ones had, although the new idents do seem to be more colourful.

My thoughts exactly, they are colourful, but there is something missing..
