It's UK Gold all over again!! From eyecatching idents to boring stuff shot on film, what a terrible mistake. Why do television companies think these will make good idents? Look at how awful they are on those UKTV channels!! Rolling Eyes

I can see the attraction of wanting to make the channel brighter and more colourful but it will be a shame to see the current ones going. I think the first three images shown look great - the second one is a stunning picture but the fourth looks quite boring and the fifth reminds me of the swimming pool ident from the ITV Granadalands Hearts era!

And how are DS getting these images? Surely this place should have the exclusives! Wink

I think UKTV History has got quite a good main ident, very suitable, like the pages of a history book with the archive film on the edges of the pages being blown

It's probably UKTV People and UKTV Documentary that I'm thinking of as very boring and uninspired.

I think it's a shame the old ones are going but these look like a good replacement.

Shame they didn't think like this when filming live action idents on BBC 1

I don't much like the implementation of the trailers but the idents and the general look is very good and a welcome change.

The split-screen-type effect is very much like that used by UKTV when they launched.

They did something very nice in the last junction - mixed straight from the trail to the ident which meant that because the logo was fixed in the middle the transition worked very well.

Yeah, the box works very well in the centre of the screen. It doesn't work well sliding to the bottom right for trailers though.

Well the two idents shown so far do seem a bit on the dull side to me, nowhere as good as the old ones, though I suppose they do give the channel a lighter feel than before. I quite like the way the box moves about on the trailers though!

That's the problem the idents needed freshening up but what they've been replaced with are a bit boring.

And the bug's still there.

It does like that is something that is imposed on the channel from higher up, seeing as it isn't there for all music, drama, films and comedy - ie a considerable proportion of the output. I think they're using it as little as they can get away with.
