Hi there been away for a while.....kind of missed the forum... anyway, I was wondering if ASA or anyone can help me find out the font's used for BBC numbers. ie. the numbers used on the bulletins at 1, 6 and 10 as well as on the trailers, idents etc.... any ideas folks?

I appreciate it.

P.S. Thanks to BjD for the font.

Yeah, but if you see in Gill Sans the '1' is just a straight line -- but on the titles for the 1,6,10 O'Clock news there is a little curve at the top of the number -- did they add that themselves?

Yep - specially designed font by Lambie Nairn. It's a variation of Gill Sans.

Similarally, the BBC '2' looks Gill Sans but is a special thicker version, again designed by L&N.

Cheers,
Asa

Is there any Mac version of this font?

OK...pushing the subject a wee bit away...does anyone know what the font used in the BBC idents 1991-1997 is? (especially that font used to write the italic 'SCOTLAND' or 'SOUTH-EAST' or whatever beneath the actual channel logo)

It looks like a variation on Arial Narrow Bold with 2 spaces between each letter to me. That works best. Thats they closest font I've got to it but I have never found out what the proper font is.

Any other idea's?

Yep, make that Bold-Italic and it seems to work...though do you think it looks really like it?
