Yeah, the point is that if EMT doesn't opt out due to a problem at the studio, then if it's the RBS system (ReBroadcast Standby) wouldn't come into play and network would still be transmitted, and that's carrying LDN as the sustaining feed.

Right, well I wasn't aware that had changed, that's why above I said it used to be the case.

IMHO the new system doesn't really make that much sense - it should work where you at least get a region vaiguely close to you Rolling Eyes

This can be done if they know in advance that the region won't be able to opt.

Yes, how utterly rediculous.

Why not get your mate Jaron on to the problem, Aston. He'll be able to sort it out for you. That's if you can find his BBC email address of course.

AIUI The Nottingham situation wrt to opts has changed since either they moved to the new studios, or DTT arrived on the scene.

These days I believe that Nottingham (East Midlands Today) has a full BBC One network chain, for both analogue and digital, so if they fail to opt-out BBC One Network will go out (which means LDN as the local programme)

HOWEVER - in days gone by (and certainly when EMT were in their previous location) the transmitter routing for the analogue system involved klunky transmitter switching - meaning that the default routing for the transmitter was Midlands Today from Pebble Mill, with the Nottingham studio only appearing with EMT during the opt-outs (and I think this relied on someone at Pebble Mill doing the correct routing)
