Right - so just to clarify for one final time...
ONE set of five regions transmitted to everybody in the UK?
If you don't press interactive or choose from the menu, etc. - do you just get BBC London News?
And why will UK Today end in January, won't they keep it as a backup for regions that fail to opt out, or will that also revert to BBC London (i.e. was UK Today originally introduced to serve digital satellite viewers primarily, and the backup for all regions was a secondary benefit).
So you've got five interactive channels... it'd be great to see all the other regional news programmes transmitted at other times of the day on them... but I guess that would be a nightmare to co-ordinate.
Also....
BBC2 afternoons. Any chance of us getting regional bulletins then using the same space, or is that impossible?
I'm really looking forward to this, its going to be great to be able to follow stories from other parts of the country that you're interested in.

It would be very easy to switch BBC2 to a national channel without any need for BBC2 to be regionalised.
a) Move the 3:20pm bulletin to BBC ONE, this could be done with rejigging the afternoon schedule, CBBC could start 5 minutes later, meaning Pingu would be dropped
b) Move 'North of/North West/Westminster etc to BBC ONE, very easilly done, move Countryfile to BBC TWO.
c) Move Close Up North etc to BBC ONE, Thursday at 7.30, with a bit of a change of the other timings
d) The Super League Show/Other Opt-Outs could also from now on be on BBC ONE. Theres always a couple of programmes which are a bit insignificant and could be opted out of.
See it wouldn't be too hard!.

Theres the same number of BBC TWO regions as there is BBC ONE regions roughly, Not sure about Sub-opts, Hull don't sub opt Look North on BBC TWO. About 10 regions.
Nations are separate as they show a lot of different stuff, Such as the Welsh Assembly instead of Westminster Live, different sport etc

BBC Two regions/nations :
Scotland
Northern Ireland
Wales
These opt out quite a lot, for more than just news.
All the main English regions opt-out on BBC Two after the 1520 News summary, on some Thursdays 1930-200 for a regional documentary/feature, and on Sunday afternoons for a 30 min Parliamentary show.
None of the regions currently have sub-opt capabilities for BBC Two. Certainly neither Oxford nor Cambridge can - as was demonstrated when the 1830 opt was moved to BBC Two during Wimbledon week, at short notice, and both sub-opts were dropped. I imagine the Belmont opt for Hull is similar.
I do not know if Nottingham and Tunbridge Wells have separate features and parliamentary shows on Thurs/Sun BBC Two. They are the more recent full regions - and are still more closely affiliated to Birmingham and London respectively I think?

I find Countryfile on BBC One a far better programme on Sunday's than the Landward programme we are forced to sit through in Scotland. Why can't they move it to BBC Two Scotland at the same time for Scottish viewers who enjoy the programme.
The same with many of the other great programmes on One shown in England, replaced by a series of programmes broadcast by Queen Margaret Drive. Shift many of the great network BBC One shows to BBC Two Scotland instead.
I'd rather make a choice between BBC One Scotland programmes and quality BBC One network programmes shown on BBC Two Scotland. How awful it is right to choose between BBC One Scotland programmes and the dismal Network BBC 2 programmes.
For any Network BBC Two programmes that were replaced by BBC One network programmes especially for BBC One Scotland programmes, why not show these programmes on BBC Two.
Scotland after 12.30am, replacing part of The Learning Zone during the week, and Pages From Ceefax at weekends.
But why not replace On the Record on Sundays's on BBC One Scotland with Hollyrood (usually shown on BBC Two Scotland). then it's possible to get an extra half hour of Sunday Grandstand on Network BBC Two.
Thank goodness the gaelic is on BBC Two Scotland rather than BBC One Scotland on Thursday evenings (with the exception of when there is sport on Network BBC Two).
