Bring back the old side-screen ECP in my view. At least they're doing something about it, POV with Wogan was never serious enough imo, in fact, Wogan doesn't tend to be serious much these days.

I didn't get the impression that the woman from marketing had actually taken on board the viewers' dislike of credit squeezing at all. She's not going to give up part of her
raison d'être
without a struggle. Her aim is to simply modify the useless ECPs into something else we can all complain about in the next series of POV.
There are junctions between programmes to run trailers. I don't need ECPs or slugs to tell me the bleedin' obvious that my own EPG can already do.
If they MUST have them, I wouldn't mind either the 2nd or 4th of those examples, Martin, so long as there wasn't an accompanying voiceover. If they really want to tell me what I missed on their other channels when I recorded the programme they can do it visually; I don't need to be told as well.

The new ECP lasted just over a year (it started at the beginning of June last year).
CBBC have different ECP guidelines from the other channels, so they could just implement that for all channels...?

Or if they want to have a big area for promos, they could have the credits running along the bottom half of the screen bottom-to-top and keep the top half of the screen for promos, text, videos, etc.
Very basic example

You're forgetting about blind/partially-sighted viewers

I wasn't. That's what the much touted 'audio description' is for.

Er, no.
Audio Desciption is for things like describing the physical actions within a narrative plot, etc. Not for things like telling you what's on next/later etc. That's the job of "continuity announcements". ECPs are obviously a CA-related thing. How could they possibly be regarded as anything else?

Brilliant!
Thus proving that there's no need for an expensive totally-new design or anything!

Surely the natural tweak would be a switch to lower third credits, with basically that pointless bottom left box in the current ECP being scrapped and the full width being used for the credits.
