For those of you who remember, this is johnnyboy - I forgot my password and the email address I originally registered with. Mods, please show that I have been a member since Jan 2003! Very Happy

Back in the day, everyone loved the BBC Digital Widescreen Test Transmission broadcast on spare onDigital channels at launch.

A poster called justwhatever22, apparently involved with the project, has uploaded the video onto Youtube.

The link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ok06G7E07Ik&list=FLGP1alsPtWrEyp11d80sDlw&index=1&feature=plpp_video.

Enjoy!

This is wonderful for two reasons.

First, "windmills" is a lovely bit of footage and I remember vividly being mesmerised by it back in the odd limbo days between ITV Digital and Freeview.

Second, your username. I suspect there are very few left on here who will understand the utter brilliance of it Very Happy

Crikey, hello johnnyboy - good to see you!

Thanks for bringing that video back to my attention. I, like Pete, was always particularly fond of the windmills. It's actually an incredibly calming thing to watch and shows off Cornwall at its most beautiful. Can't imagine we'd ever see the like of it now - actually maybe there is. We should suggest BBC One HD uses it during the regional news that it can't currently show.

OK it might not actually be HD but who cares. I want windmills.

Oh, and the username is a great hark back to the halcyon days. Very Happy

I believe BBC Future Media and Technology do still use the footage for the occasional tests they carry out which involve SD. I believe it was broadcast to London when they were testing DVB-T2.

Lovely stuff, and Aphex on the soundtrack too - what's not to like?

I asked you about this on YouTube, but figured I'd replicate it here, do you know what cameras were used in this? What acquisition codec and whatnot? I like to know this kind of stuff Smile

Sorry, elmarko - not me who filmed this.

Search for the username in my original post on Youtube and he might answer you direct.
