If you really need it, have a small contrib nooth somewhere like a public library.

If your town is lucky enough to still have public libraries.

Change that. Move 'prime' programming to have its first outing on iPlayer weeks/months ahead of the first airing.

It's not rocket science, they've done the same before when running down their BBC One/Two coverage.

I think I'm right in saying that it costs the BBC far more for somebody to watch a programme via iPlayer than to watch it on a broadcast platform. Bandwidth costs for each viewer whereas broadcast costs the same if 1 person or 10 million are watching.

I'm really quite tired of these petty comebacks and people kudosing them. Thank God Carl Waring doesn't post here.

Did anyone else see the reports in the Sunday Times? Which included plans to axe the voice, which can only be a good thing.

I don't think there are any plans to axe the Voice. But I think really if the BBC is going to be chucking that kind of money at a format I'd rather they'd be devloping their own in the future.

It's getting boring over there how you can't suggest anything that could be cut without being labelled as ridiculous, anti-BBC, Tory, etc.

There are so many things that the BBC does that I personally don't think it should do (despite on the whole wanting the BBC to exist), but Christ, it'd be nice if people were accepting of other people's points of view once in a while.

Why have you just copied and pasted all new Phil's post from Metropol?

OK main question, what do you think will happen to the BBC after 2016?

If the idiotic Conservative government get the way, it will cease to exist. All its stars will gradually defect to itv (a process that is already underway), the remaining sporting rights will go to itv (a process that is already underway) and all the viewers will flock to itv (not happening convincingly of late but it will easily happen). BBC Radio will be commercialised. The BBC website will be taken offline but not before it is reduced to an absolute skeleton of what it used to be, with rarely updated, irrelevant content. BBC Proms will become Classic FM Proms, with highlights late night on itv.

The Daily Mail will think all its Christmases have come at once. Local newspapers will be overjoyed too. itv will be throwing parties everywhere for its shareholders. The Murdochs will be getting in on the act too.

RIP BBC. Thank you, John Whittingdale.

I doubt there will be a BBC apocalypse. It will be badly beaten, but will adapt in time.

There is far too much trash being produced by them anyway, in my opinion, but others will disagree.

What we will have in five years is a tighter and leaner BBC, but a BBC that will produce high quality and crisp programming.

Will Match of the Day be sponsored by Walkers?

Will Match of the Day be sponsored by Walkers?

It basically is, but without Walker paying anything. When I see Gary Lineker, Walkers springs to mind - so they are effectively getting free advertising.
