BBC Countryfile

BBC countryfile seems compelled to talk more about subjects unrelated to the countryside! (January 2013)

I have been watching Countryfile on BBC 1 every Sunday without fail for many years. Being a Farmer I mainly watch to see the weather for the week but also for other topics related to the countryside. But I cant help but feel the countryfile team are attempting to become celebrities rather than presenting factual countryside related topics to the British public. Also they appear to be running out of interesting topics recently so rather than getting off there bum and finding an interesting story they just put on a repeated episode from years ago in hope people will not realize. Furthermore the topics in question they choose to feature in the show appear to focus more and more on the sea and any related water topic like we haven't seen enough water this year! They need to realize that maybe if someone is watching a programme about the countryside they expect to see countryside and not the seaside. Perhaps someone on the production team has an unhealthy obsession with water or the sea?
However I cannot fault all of the programme as I find Adam Henson a very down to earth inspirational person who gives a very good insight to people about modern farming and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty an show off his very productive farm. Where as the other presenters appear to be living on cloud nine and just want the lime light! I hope by posting this people may be in some agreement and it would be nice to see some more countryside related topics on countyfile in the near future! Thanks Laughing

Peter may I be the first to welcome you.

Have you sent a letter to the BBC?

Welcome, Peter Kelly.

Countryfile doesn't receive much discussion around here, and I very much doubt anybody in an editorial position will see your comments. I echo Jon's advice to send it off to the BBC directly.

One thing I will say is there's been a surge in complaints since it moved production bases... Destroying Quality First.
