The last Newsround has just broadcast on BBC1 with a whole report on the change of channels including a montage of Children's BBC on BBC1 including clips from Blue Peter, Saturday Superstore, Newsround and Live & Kicking.

And after tomorrow's Christmas specials, that will be the end! Quite sad really.

BBC2 will simulcast the BBC News channel until 9.30am

Anybody have any more detail on this point? Seems a bit suspect in view of BBC1 simulcasting Breakfast with the News Channel, unless it means BBC2 won't start until 8.30am

According to Digiguide for w/c 7th January, the BBC 2 morning schedule from 6am is primarily consumer shows and films, with no BBC News simulcast.

There's also a programme called "Preview" at 6am on 4 days that week, lasting 35-40 minutes.

That's the BBC Two barker, which stays on a little later just for that first week because the block of daytime programmes (which is the previous morning's 10-12:15 BBC One block) is followed by B&W films rather than Signzone and a mix of World News and Hardtalk, Click, Question Time etc, which is the normal plan. So, yeah, a couple of things wrong with that report - especially the idea of BBC Two simulcasting the news channel until 9:30, which would mean Breakfast on three channels at once.

BBC 2 could simulcast BBC World, rather than News 24/BBC 1 ?

Could, but that's not the plan at the moment. The current 1130 World simulcast stays, though.

And it sounds like the 1130 simulcast is turning into an hour simulcast.

Looking at the schedules it seems the BBC News Channel is simulcast at 11am, with BBC World News at 11.30.

Nice to see that the early-90s neon sign is still going strong!

That seems a bit odd. There could easily be story overlap between the two bulletins whereas if they kept with BBC World News for an hour, they could turn it more into a 'newshour', which I think both BBC World News and BBC Two would benefit from more.

That looks like the broom cupboard one, good to see it again!

There was a larger one that sat in Studio A (both ended up there post-broom cupboard and briefly in Studio 9) - Kirsten O'Brien has this one in her flat!

Looking at the new bulletin times, interesting (but not entirely unexpected) that there isn't a single replacement for the BBC1 bulletin. Today's clocked in at 9 minutes, the longest from January will be (somewhat oddly) the weekend 1.55pm bulletin.

You would have thought they could keep a ten-minute early evening slot somewhere in the schedule. Are CBBC shows still made to fit a 25 minute slot or are they 30 minutes now. I'd assume the BBC would keep them shorter to make them easier to sell internationally, and from what I've seen most 30 minute shows usually are padded out with a short filler after.

Been 30mins for a while now and looking at the lengths on some random iPlayer shows, all have running times between 27 and 29 minutes.

The padding is more probably obvious during the periods where there's no presentation from the office.

Well to be honest it's only the odd BBC1 4.30pm show I've caught - or more specifically the filler that follows it.

I read on the DS forums that CBBC & Cbeebies presenters did a final link together at 5.15. Is this true? Would love to see a clip of it.
