The BBC probably thought there wasn't much point in completely changing the daytime schedules until probably the third week of January as we have Darts coverage for the first week and then we will have the Snooker coverage throughout week 2 which will be dominating BBC2's afternoon schedules. So they may continue with a similar looking schedule until the spot has finished and then run with the new schedule then.

BBC2's weekend schedules look fantastic with a double bill of films on both Saturday and Sunday morniing from 6am which reminds me of what BBC2 used to do back in the 1990's Smile

Yes.
Well? Where is it then? No offense, but we can't just take your word for it.

Someone told me at a training event I was at last week. They work with BBC HD.

BBC2HD will replace BBC HD in late March. They're considering simulcasting Three and/or Four but it's still all up in the air in terms of where the money for that would come from. Given that an HD simulcast is obviously going to be cheaper than a linear service I'd argue that there's simply no chance that BBC HD will continue as a channel after March, even if there is a spare Freeview slot.

That makes sense and fits with what I've heard.

Anybody have any more detail on this point? Seems a bit suspect in view of BBC1 simulcasting Breakfast with the News Channel, unless it means BBC2 won't start until 8.30am

According to Digiguide for w/c 7th January, the BBC 2 morning schedule from 6am is primarily consumer shows and films, with no BBC News simulcast.

There's also a programme called "Preview" at 6am on 4 days that week, lasting 35-40 minutes.

I'm guessing that's just the usual overnight Ceefax replacement, either continuing if the Learning Zone isn't on that night or as a quick filler to fill time up to the film starting (what with them all being unusual lengths).

That's the BBC Two barker, which stays on a little later just for that first week because the block of daytime programmes (which is the previous morning's 10-12:15 BBC One block) is followed by B&W films rather than Signzone and a mix of World News and Hardtalk, Click, Question Time etc, which is the normal plan. So, yeah, a couple of things wrong with that report - especially the idea of BBC Two simulcasting the news channel until 9:30, which would mean Breakfast on three channels at once.

BBC 2 could simulcast BBC World, rather than News 24/BBC 1 ?

Could, but that's not the plan at the moment. The current 1130 World simulcast stays, though.
