BBC2HD will replace BBC HD in late March. They're considering simulcasting Three and/or Four but it's still all up in the air in terms of where the money for that would come from. Given that an HD simulcast is obviously going to be cheaper than a linear service I'd argue that there's simply no chance that BBC HD will continue as a channel after March, even if there is a spare Freeview slot.
Though, they could simulcast CBBC and BBC Three into one HD channel, then Cbeebies and BBC Four as another HD. That just leaves BBC News and BBC Parliament which aren't HD.
BBC have actually been very slow in introducing HD versions of their channels (unlike ITV).

If they're going to do that they might as well time shift the kids channels with 3 and 4 on separate channels like they already do with the SD versions.
The only reason why ITV2,3 & 4 exist in HD is because Sky pay them to do so and they're encrypted. BBC can't have that luxury.

Yes but as a viewer it would appear that ITV have more commitment to HD than BBC. And I hope the BBC HD axing is been thrown out it's a totally backwards for BBC HD content. Fair enough a lot maybe BBC2, but a lot of BBC3's content is HD and CBBC simulacast HD on their too. Think back to the summer with a 'BBC 2 HD' there wouldn't be HD version of BBC3's Olympic coverage.

You're quite right. It would have been an HD version of BBC2's Olympic coverage as the scheduling across the channels would have been different.

Do we know yet what they are being replaced with?
Probably more cooking shows, antique shows and antique cooking programming.

'How do you like your Fabergé eggs?' will take some beating.

The BBC2 line up for the first week of January is something like this:
6.35am Homes under the Hammer
7.35 Saints and Sinners
8.20 Cowboy Trap
8.50 FILM (double bill)
12.00 Daily Politics
1.00 Darts
4.15 Rivers with Griff Rhys Jones
5.15 Antiques Roadshow
I'd have thought they could get another hour of the darts, or perhaps even repeat the late night highlights the following morning (if rights allow). No BBC World News as of yet.

What happened to the Major overhauls of BBC daytime or are clueless what to do?
JA
Yes.
Well? Where is it then? No offense, but we can't just take your word for it.
Got a source for that?
