Yes good to see CBBC starting at 6am instead of 7am like the BBC did last Christmas. I think the typical bunch of 'fillers' in the morning schedule after 8.30am on BBC2 rather poor though.

It was 7am in 2004, but 6am last year. As it's Christmas, doesn't BBC2 deserve a lie-in?

BTW, what are the channel's overnight arrangements?

Simple, more kids are awake earlier over Christmas, so I guess it's the norm for the BBC to put on a kids service first thing in the morning. I remember back in 2001 BBC One showed family Movies at 5.30am on most mornings, and I guess that ITV will probably have CITV on from 4.30am, or at least something until 5.55am anyway.

I think it makes a huge amount of sense to start children's programmes an hour earlier during Christmas - kids wake up early! Especially at that time of year, it's as simple as that.

Christmas Day is rather lack lustre. Green Green Grass is pants, I don't see the point of 10 minutes of Strictly Come Dancing, and whilst Entrapment is an ok film, they could have done better. That being said, whilst it's not all my cup of tea it is all sort of "fun for the whole family TV", and lets be honest it's not the sort of day where you just vegetate infront of the box for hours on end.

New Year's Eve doesn't offer much either. An hour of Little Britain?!

Overall: good effort, could do better. See me.

Someone will probably advise you better than what I can but I think its down to the tv day starting from 6am-6am so what is 27:30 should be 03:30. A full lengthy version by someone else to follow Smile

No, that's a pretty good description! BBC days start at 6am, so they use this slightly weird system of a 30 hour clock in describing their tv listings (though usually only internally). Thus a BBC Monday starts at Monday 0600 (Monday 6am) and ends at Monday 29:59 (Tuesday 5.59am) !

How many times are they going to show Chicken Run, Stuart Little and Entrapment?

And I take it the 4:30 start of Pirates of the Carrabean will mean it wil be cut.

Even if it was on at 10.30pm the BBC would probably still make cuts!

Are BBC One really going to put a 10 min tease for Strictly Come Dancing special on Christmas Evening?

Why not just extend the news by 10 mins instead.

Little Britain repeats on NY Eve? What? I generally stay in as I'm not a big NY Eve fan anyway, so I would probably have the TV on - some sort of entertaing review of the year (like the ones Clive James used to do) always seemed fitting.

Ah well, will have to arrange something else - BBC1 will be at the very bottom of my list with that schedule though.

I'm dreading the new Vicar of Dibley - that last lot at Christmas 2004 were dire.

I love it, yet again the tabloids are slating the BBC for describing their Christmas repeats as classics. Its been the same every year for a long time.

And I agree with them.

Absolutely stunned that The Santa Clause isn't on Christmas Day!

It's alright but nothing special. There are a few comedies and the odd film I will probably watch but aside from Doctor Who, there isn't anything that leaps out as I must watch it. It could be better.

I presume it will be the usual overnight arrangements - N24 on BBC One and Ceefax on BBC Two.

it would be good if bbc 1 had ceefax and bbc 2 had a testcard but i know that will never happen.
